Bjarne Stroustrup

Not one email mentioned including Bjarne Stroustrup. So I will. If I'm going to mention Kernighan and Ritchie, I'm sure going to mention the guy who brought OOP to their language. Stroustrup's "The C++ Programming Language" is to C++ what K&R's "The C Programming Language" is to C.

I think C++ is a truly beautiful language. Read Stroustrup's book and see if you don't agree. Unfortunately, too many programmers' only exposure to C++ comes bundled with a self-serving, poorly constructed application framework from a proprietary company desperate to retain their king of the mountain position.
